THE LEGAL CHRONICLES
[ABOUT]

About The Legal Chronicles

We cover Indian courts with a newsroom lens and a legal researcher mindset. Our goal is to make judgments, filings, and data intelligible without trading away nuance.

[01]Mission

The Legal Chronicles exists to bring structured, source-traceable reporting to Indian court proceedings. Legal journalism in India has historically been driven by courtroom relationships and experience — we believe it can also be driven by data, open records, and rigorous indexing.

We are independent. We do not accept story placement or sponsored coverage. Our only obligation is to readers who rely on accurate, timely court reporting.

[02]What We Cover
Judgments

Daily briefs on significant orders from the Supreme Court and High Courts, with linked statutes and neutral citations.

Statutes

Key provisions indexed by act and section, each connected to the judgments that interpret them.

Data Stories

Weekly charts on filings, bail outcomes, bench compositions, and enforcement patterns — with methodology notes.

[03]Our Approach

We prioritise primary sources. Every claim is mapped to a docket number, citation, or statutory provision. Where a judgment is available in the public domain, we link to it directly.

We use a structured CMS that allows us to index sections, acts, courts, and judgments relationally — so a reader can move from a data story to the underlying provision to a bench's interpretation in a few clicks.

Corrections are published with timestamps and logged against the original story. We do not silently edit published material.

[04]Team

The Legal Chronicles is built by a small team with backgrounds in law, journalism, and data engineering. We combine courtroom reporting with computational tools to produce coverage that scales without sacrificing precision.

We are actively looking for contributors — reporters, researchers, and developers — who share our commitment to source-based legal journalism.
