Justice A.S. Chandurkar was born on 7 April 1965 and enrolled at the Bombay High Court Bar on 21 July 1988, training in the chambers of Senior Advocate B.N. Naik. He practised extensively at the Bombay High Court's principal seat and its benches at Nagpur, Aurangabad, and Goa.
After over 12 years on the Bombay High Court bench he was elevated directly to the Supreme Court on 30 May 2025. His work spans constitutional law, freedom of expression, consumer protection, and textile law.
He held the government's Fact Check Unit unconstitutional as a restriction on free speech (Kunal Kamra v Union of India) at the Bombay High Court level.
