Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari
Biography
Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari was born on 29 June 1961 in Jaura, Morena district, and enrolled with the Madhya Pradesh State Bar Council on 22 November 1985, practising civil, criminal, constitutional, service, and tax matters at the Gwalior bench.
He was elevated as Additional Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in November 2005, becoming a Permanent Judge in 2008. He served as Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court (2019–2021) and Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court (2021) before his Supreme Court elevation.
He has authored over 41 Supreme Court judgments spanning service matters (25%), criminal law (23%), and civil matters (21%). Notable rulings include upholding the Supreme Court's power to directly dissolve a marriage under Article 142.
