Justice Manmohan was born on 17 December 1962 in Delhi; his father, the late Jagmohan Malhotra, was a Member of Parliament and served as Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and Goa. He enrolled at the Bar Council of Delhi in 1987.
He was designated Senior Advocate of the Delhi High Court on 18 January 2003 and elevated as Additional Judge on 13 March 2008. He served as Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court from September 2024 before his Supreme Court elevation on 5 December 2024.
