Nongmeikapam Kotiswar Singh

Justice N.K. Singh was born on 1 March 1963 in Imphal, Manipur; his father was a judge of the Gauhati High Court and Manipur's first Advocate General. He practised civil, criminal, constitutional, and service matters in Delhi, and completed a Commonwealth Young Lawyers Course at the University of London in 1992.

He served on the Gauhati and Manipur High Courts and as Chief Justice of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court from February 2023 before his Supreme Court elevation on 18 July 2024. He is the first Supreme Court judge from Manipur.

His work has addressed citizenship, NRC registration, and constitutional law, including rulings on the finality of foreign tribunal declarations on nationality.
