Biography

[01]Biography

Justice P.S. Narasimha was born on 3 May 1963 in Hyderabad; his father Justice Kodanda Ramayya served on the Andhra Pradesh High Court from 1982 to 1998. He practised law at the Andhra Pradesh High Court and the Supreme Court, where he was designated Senior Advocate in 2008.

He served as Additional Solicitor General of India from May 2014 to December 2018. Directly elevated from the Supreme Court Bar to the bench on 31 August 2021, he is one of the few judges to reach the apex court without High Court judicial service.

He has authored significant constitutional bench rulings on marriage equality, legislative immunity (holding lawmakers are not immune from bribery prosecution), and federal governance (Delhi government controls city administration, not the Union).
