Sandeep Mehta

Justice Sandeep Mehta was born on 11 January 1963 and enrolled at the Bar Council of Rajasthan on 8 August 1986. He practised criminal and constitutional matters at the Rajasthan High Court and was an active Bar Council leader (Member, Vice Chairman, Chairman) from 2003 to 2010.

He served as Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court from 15 February 2023 before his Supreme Court elevation on 9 November 2023.

His work at the Supreme Court has addressed criminal law, habeas corpus, dowry cases, transgender welfare, and the intersection of mental health and criminal proceedings.
