Justice Vijay Bishnoi was born on 26 March 1964 in Jodhpur and enrolled as an advocate on 8 July 1989, practising civil, criminal, constitutional, service, and election matters at the Rajasthan High Court and the Central Administrative Tribunal.
He served for over nine years as a Permanent Judge of the Rajasthan High Court and as Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court from 5 February 2024 before his Supreme Court elevation on 30 May 2025.
His work has addressed voice sample evidence in criminal cases, contempt proceedings, wildlife sanctuary denotification, and juvenile bail.
